Hello, my name is John Madden and I want to welcome you to Orlando Baseball Training.

Here’s a quick bio (for a full bio please click here):

  • At 5 years old started playing tee ball
  • At 14 years old moved from Freshman to Varsity half way through season (Co-MVP and Outstanding Pitcher Award 2001), (1st Team All Conference 99,00,01)
  • At 18 years old earned a full scholarship to Seminole Community College
  • At 20 years old won the State Championship and went to JuCo World Series as a starting pitcher (1st Team All Conference 2003)
  • At 21 years old earned a scholarship to pitch relief at Auburn University
  • At 22 years old led the nation in appearances and relief innings pitched as well one of the top 5 in ERA. (1st Team All SEC 2005), (Nominee – Roger Clemens Pitcher of the Year 2005), (Nominee – Stopper of the Year 2005), (3rd Team All American 2005)
  • In 2005 drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 8th round
  • In 2006 earned Most Valuable Pitcher Award as well as ranked #1 fastball in entire organization and #2 slider in entire organization.  Also topped out at 96mph
  • In 2008 the NY Mets bought my contract in the Triple A phase of the Rule 5 Draft
  • In 2010 I began instructing/coaching after 6 years of playing Pro Baseball at every level
Philosophy: If you want to be a professional you have to act like one. That means work out like one, play like one, think like one, BE ONE! If you put in the work and have the right attitude you’ll be able to play baseball for a long time. Never Give Up!
